Sanderson shortlisted in two categories at the 2023 Motor Transport Awards

Five years ago, Stephen Sanderson Transport won the coveted accolade of ‘Haulier of the Year’ at the Motor Transport Awards. Since then, we’ve experienced a time of unprecedented change and growth. This year we entered again, and we’re thrilled to announce we’re finalists once more.

Sanderson is shortlisted for both Haulier of the Year and Business Excellence. To be finalists in not one, but two categories, is a great achievement and a testament to the expertise and hard work of our whole team.

Haulier of the Year is the ultimate mark of excellence in road freight transport. Against a backdrop of increasingly challenging market dynamics, this year’s award recognises adaptability and resilience, and the tenacity to keep finding new ways of achieving customer service excellence.

Our submission highlighted our diversification into the thriving food and drinks distribution sector, and our drive to achieve BRCGS AA Grade accreditation – the gold standard in food storage and transportation. Our Commercial Director, Ed Sanderson said:

It has been the basis for our trajectory of growth, creating a domino effect of positivity across our whole business and increasing our focus on quality, process and staff development. It has supported the move of our entire transport operation to a state-of-the-art new site, enhancing our fully integrated customer offering, improving staff welfare, and ensuring our business is fit for the future.

The Business Excellence award recognises a commitment to best practice and excellence in financial performance, strategic thinking, customer service, CSR and staff development. As a family business celebrating our 50th year, Sanderson Transport faces that most difficult of challenges – taking our business to the next level. That means upscaling our operations and innovating without compromising on those values that differentiate us: Our culture, close client partnerships, versatility and care. Ed comments:

Our answer was in our people and processes. By helping our staff to feel part of our journey, investing in training, welfare and new facilities, we have unprecedented engagement levels. By reviewing our entire operation to focus on process, we have seen an uplift in quality, performance – and agility.
