Maintaining AA excellence in food storage and distribution with the BRC Global Standard (BRCGS) food warehousing

It’s one thing achieving high standards, but another thing embedding them in the everyday operations of any business.

When it comes to secure warehousing and logistics for the food industry, maintaining the highest standards through the food distribution supply chain is a complex, but critical process, with no room for error.

In 2019, Sanderson Transport obtained BRC Global Standard A grade, 2020 we achieved AA and in November 2021 we underwent our annual audit to be re-accredited, maintaining the highest AA standard in the distribution of food, packaging and consumer products, across all our sites.

Holding the BRCGS standard provides the reassurance our customers require in a world of just-in-time supply chains, where retailers demand that precise criteria are met in product quality, consistency and service level, whilst maintaining pin-point cost efficiency.

Our BRC AA compliance demonstrates Sanderson’s high operating standards and commitment to quality, safety and integrity. Our food safety management systems begin with a hazard and risk analysis, and ensure that we meet strict criteria when it comes to food storage and facility management, batch control, hygiene and allergen control, all supported by our Microlistics WMS.

We take food security and protection seriously, with full traceability from production line to destination, and the ability to respond in case of product recall to identify and prevent affected products from entering supermarket shelves or reaching further down the production line, without affecting business continuity.

We can be storing or moving food products or packaging at any stage of the supply chain for customers such as Kerry Foods, IFF, Taste Original or Clifton packaging. For these customers, peace of mind comes from knowing that once the product lands with Sanderson Transport, we are in control throughout the whole journey, with one process from start to finish. Having our own fleet of 80+ vehicles on general haulage, and offering a groupage operation across the UK, means that we offer full accountability from point of source to point of delivery.

By far, the most critical factor is being able to rely on human interaction with the product at every touchpoint. That means training every member of staff so that BRC protocols and vehicle operating standards become more than just a tick list, but woven into the way we work on a day-to-day basis. Ed concludes:
