SANDERSON PULLS OUT ALL THE STOPS – AND THE TRUCKS – FOR CHARITY EVENT!

On a dry and sunny Bank holiday Monday back in August, crowds lining the streets of Medbourne, near Market Harborough saw our trucks in a totally different role from usual!

The company was approached by organiser Gary Gardner and asked if we would supply trucks for a sponsored truck pull in Medbourne in aid of Jack Rigby, the 3-year old son of murdered Fusilier Lee Rigby. With our long family connection to the village and such a good cause, we jumped at the chance to be able to help, providing two 8 tonne trucks (plus a spare just in case) and a team of 15 drivers who all gave up their bank holiday.

On the one mile course through the village, 20 teams participated in the event which was won by local builders ‘Trades on the Pull’ in a time of 12 minutes and 24 seconds.

Over 3000 people from the local area supported the day, one of the biggest community events in Medbourne for some years.  It was just one of a number of events being organised with the aim of raising a total of £50,000 to be invested for Jack’s future, and although the final amount raised has yet to be announced it is expected to be between £5000 and £7000!

We have already been asked to contribute to a similar event in 2014 and the company is delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.
