The challenge

Since we began in 1981, Hörmann has grown to become the leading supplier of garage and industrial door products to the UK construction industry. Our UK operation delivers across the country to both residential and commercial developments. Over the years, our needs have evolved, demanding a comprehensive transport and logistics service. We need a distribution partner with the capability to handle ever larger consignments of varied types of product, whilst ensuring damage limitation; the know-how and safety credentials to deliver safely onto difficult-to-access sites; and soon our expansion will require increased warehousing, data management and stock control facilities

WHY SANDERSON?

Sanderson Transport has been with us all the way through our journey, which began in 1981 with the delivery of our first sample garage door in the UK. They have worked with us through our times of change, and our challenges. Through new innovations, vehicles, and systems, they’ve adapted their business to help us grow our business, enabling us to deliver an ever-expanding product offering with greater efficiency and reliability. Most of all, their personal approach has been the key to our successful relationship through the years. We are one team, and their 20 drivers are part of the fabric of our business, each averaging a lengthy 15 years working on our contract.

THE DIFFERENCE TO OUR BUSINESS?

Sanderson helped us by developing an innovative new racking system for their fleet of more than 20 Hörmann branded vehicles. The system needed to help us increase the capacity of every load, and to be versatile enough to handle varied types of product, whilst reducing any risk of damage. The solution has increased our capacity by a huge 60%, helping achieve significant efficiencies, sustainability targets, and ensuring greater reliability in the condition of the product to the end user. By April 2018, the entire fleet will feature truck mounted forklifts, eradicating manual handling, impacting health and safety, efficiency, and offering a speedy, self-contained service to our end users.

Hörmann

Every company has its procedures, protocols, and its training programmes. But you can’t train someone to care. It’s the human element that brings Sanderson transport into its own, and the drivers who represent us day in, day out. They are the face of our organisation and have built long-standing relationships with the people we do business with. Without such a fantastic team of people, we simply wouldn’t have been able to grow our business with such success.
